Cross Process Look

(Don Giannatti)

If you like the look of cross processed film (E-6 processed in C-41) you may like this handy little tip.
(Model: Dawn Grove - Leighton Agency / Phoenix)

Open the image and correct the levels in RGB Mode.
Go to Layers and create a new Curves Adjustment Layer.

Select the blue channel and lower the Highlight Point as shown. Add a mid point to create a gentle curve.
This introduces a yellow cast into the highlights.

Select the Green channel and lower the highlight point as well. (Not as much as the earlier graph).
Use the Midpoint to balance to a gentle warm (peach) color.

Select the Red channel and introduce a cast into the shadow areas. Keep the highlight point normal but increase density in the shadow quarter tones.

Lastly, go back to the RGB mode and introduce a gentle curve to the line adjusting by eye for clean density and overall contrast.

Well, there you go. Cross-Processed image even though, in this case, it was shot on a digital camera.
